Martin is on life support and his family is finding it difficult to pay for the expensive treatment. His wife Khyati, who was running from pillar to post to arrange for money, looked relieved on Monday after several cricketers offered financial help.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, under whose captaincy Martin made his ODI debut in 1999, said that he would support Martin.

Khyati confirmed to TOI that she had got a call from Sourav. "BCCI and BCA have already offered support. We are getting offers from others and I am glad that the cricketing fraternity has come together for supporting Martin's treatment. I am a bit relieved now," Khyati said.

"From Irfan and Yusuf Pathan to Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra, many India players too have promised help. The cricketing fraternity from Vadodara as well as other cities is coming together for him," Sanjay Patel, former secretary of BCCI and BCA, told TOI.

Martin had met with an accident near Old Padra Road on December 27 when his two-wheeler had slipped off a speed-breaker. He had gone to buy ice cream for his family and was returning home. He was rushed to a private hospital with broken ribs, a fractured leg and hand.

Martin represented India in 10 ODIs between 1999 and 2001 scoring 158 runs. Martin played 138 first-class matches and scored 9,192 runs.
