Kemba Walker: NBA All-Star claim made about Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving
The Charlotte Hornets star is one of the 10 starters this year, having been picked as one of the reserves for the past two years.
Walker has been on fire this season, and is averaging 25 points per game.
The point guard received the third highest total of fan votes for guards in the Eastern Conference.
He got 1.39million fan votes, and was only beaten by Irving and Dwyane Wade.
Elsewhere on the Eastern Conference team are captain Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, Irving and Joel Embiid.
Speaking to NBA on TNT, Walker spoke about how proud he was to be named as a starter on All-Star team.
The star was not told beforehand that he would be named, and found out live on TV as the names were announced.
“It’s kind of surreal,” Walker admitted.
“I had a lot of doubters coming into my career about just being an elite point guard in this league.
“So for me to become an all-star for two straight years, and now being a starter, it’s definitely proved the doubters wrong.
“This is an unbelievable moment in my career.”
NBA on TNT panellist Kenny Smith compared the Hornets’ ace to Curry and Irving.
He referenced the way Walker plays despite being shorter than average players in the league.
“At his size to be able to dominate the game offensively the way he does, he’s James Harden-like,” he said.
“Kemba says he’s six feet, but I would guarantee you he’s 5-10, without question.
“We talk about Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry’s handles all the time.
“I’d put Kemba right in there with him.”
