Kangana Ranaut: Directing Manikarnika might have killed me
Performing daredevil stunts for Manikarnika- The Queen Of Jhansi wasn't the hard part for Kangana Ranaut. It was when the film's director Krish left the project in the middle due to his prior commitment of shooting NTR's biopic.
Kangan took up the project in her hands and started directing the rest of the film. Undertaking the project ensued more problems for Kangana. The actress had a fallout with co-actor Sonu Sood. Their tiff ended with Sonu walking out of the film.
In an interview with a daily, the actress opened up about how working overtime for the film took a toll on her. She said, "October is when everyone got to know, I came on board as director in June. For two-three months we reconceived the entire film, incorporated six-seven songs, then the reshoot began. I was running two units simultaneously, one with my DoP, Kiran Deohans, and a parallel unit with Sachin Krishn and Nick Powell."
She added, "A regular takes 15-20 shots a day, Kiranji and I were taking 50-60 shots, wrapping up five-six scenes, every day for 45 days. The same was happening with the parallel unit with every frame taking a couple of hours to dress up."
Not just Kangana, her entire team worked really hard for the film. "Even the VFX team finished off six months work in two and the music team didn't get more than two hours sleep. It was all about manic passion, devotion. It might have killed me, but I was used to working in extreme situations," she said.
Manikarnika also stars Ankita Lokhande and is slated to hit the theatres on January 25, targeting the Republic Day audience.
